Explosion rocks chemical tanker on Yangtze River

An explosion damaged the 2018-built chemical tanker Qiu Feng 6 on Wednesday and injured two crew members.
The incident occurred when the vessel was sailing near Wuhu on the Yangtze River. A video of the incident shows the crew possibly washing the tank when the explosion happened.
Three crew jumped into the water and were later picked up by a rescue team and another two crew were injured and sent to hospital for emergency treatment, while the other four crew members onboard were unharmed.
The fire triggered by the explosion was put out and authorities have started investigations into the cause of the incident.
The vessel is owned by Yangzhou Yuhua Shipping, which mainly operates ships carrying hazardous cargo on the Yangtze.

Seven people died after an Aframax tanker undergoing maintenance at a shipyard in Indonesia caught fire on 11 May 2020.
The fire broke out on board the 105,100 dwt Jag Leela docked at the Belawan shipyard in Sumatra, the Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation said.
It was reportedly preceded by several explosions on board the vessel.
Local agencies managed to extinguish the fire in a joint effort later that day. However, thick smoke was hampering rescue and evacuation attempts.

Tres heridos en el incendio de un barco amarrado en el muelle de Isla Cristina
Tres marineros han resultado heridos esta mañana en el muelle de La Marina de Isla Cristina tras desatarse un virulento incendio en un barco atracado en las instalaciones. El Servicio de Emergencias 112 han indicado que la Autoridad Portuaria ha informado que finalmente son tres los heridos y no dos como se transmitió a primera hora: dos de mayor envergadura y uno de carácter leve. Todos fueron trasladados a centros hospitalarios.

Retraso en labores de rescate habría derivado en la muerte de los seis tripulantes que se encontraban atrapados en el barco, alrededor de las 21:00 del pasado martes, tras colisionar con otra embarcación en las costas de Corral. Vecinos denuncian que marinos entorpecieron las faenas de recuperación de los tripulantes y la Marina ordenó la realización de un sumario.
