Pilot Dies in Fall From Pilot Ladder in Panama City, Florida

A Florida pilot passed away earlier this month after a pilot ladder accident in Panama City, Florida, the latest in a long and tragic line of lives lost due to slips and falls in the boarding process.
The St. Andrew’s Bay Pilots have confirmed that Capt. Phillip Brady, 46, suffered a fatal fall while disembarking a bulker. On January 12, Capt. Brady fell from a pilot ladder while transferring off the 60,000 dwt bulk carrier Lowlands Luck, and he fell 15 feet into the water. Los cuatro miembros de la dotación del pesquero abandonaron el barco en una balsa y fueron rescatados por otro pesquero que faenaba en la zona. Los rescatados fueron conducidos al puerto de San Vicene de la Barquera (Cantabria) en donde fueron atendidos por una ambulancia. El estado de los rescatados en principio, no presentaba problemas.

El puerto de Tarifa fue escenario este lunes del hundimiento del Mr. M, un yate de recreo de 25 metros de eslora y valorado en unos 10 millones de euros. La embarcación, con bandera polaca y propiedad de armadores holandeses, había atracado el pasado viernes tras sufrir daños, pero se fue a pique antes de que comenzaran los trabajos de reparación, según confirmaron fuentes de la Autoridad Portuaria.
El siniestro obligó a Salvamento Marítimo a activar un dispositivo de seguridad, desplegando barreras anticontaminación en torno al barco para contener posibles fugas de combustible.

East Nusa Tenggara. Authorities are continuing search and rescue operations for four Spanish tourists who went missing after a tourist boat sank in waters near Padar Island, part of the Komodo National Park area in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara.
The victims — all members of the same family — have been identified as Martin Carreras Fernando, Martin Garcia Mateo, Martines Ortuno Maria Lia, and Martinez Ortuno Enriquejavier. They were among 11 people on board the tourist vessel KM Putri
