La intervención del submarino se realizó en aguas cercanas a Puerto Rico después de zarpar de la costa norte de Colombia.
La sección del Departamento de Justicia de Estados Unidos en Puerto Rico informó este lunes de la captura de un submarino semisumergible de 15,8 metros de eslora y 2,4 metros de ancho que transportaba unos 2.500 kilogramos de cocaína en aguas del mar Caribe.
La droga podría haber alcanzado un valor de 75 millones de dólares, según explicó en rueda de prensa el fiscal federal para el Distrito de Puerto Rico, Stephen Muldrow.
La embarcación habría zarpado de la costa norte de Colombia con el objetivo de descargar su mercancía en Puerto Rico. El submarino y tres tripulantes colombianos fueron detenidos el 8 de abril por la Guardia Costera. Los hombres fueron imputados el 14 de abril, aunque el Departamento de Justicia informó de la incautación este lunes.

BEIJING: A tanker carrying around 1 million barrels of bitumen mix was involved in a collision near the Chinese port city of Qingdao, spilling oil into the Yellow Sea, Chinese maritime officials and tanker representatives said on Tuesday (Apr 27).
The collision involving the anchored Liberia-flagged tanker A Symphony and the bulk vessel Sea Justice took place at 8.50am local time, A Symphony's manager Goodwood Ship Management said in an e-mail.

Indonesia has about 72 hours left to rescue 53 crew members of a missing navy submarine before they run out of oxygen, the navy said.
The KRI Nanggala-402 vessel is thought to have disappeared about 60 miles (100km) off the coast of Bali early on Wednesday morning.
Six warships, a helicopter and 400 people are involved in the search.
Singapore and Malaysia have dispatched ships, and the US, Australia, France, and Germany have offered assistance.
The German-built submarine had been conducting a drill but failed to report back and contact was lost, the navy said.

Survivors and former crewmembers of the lost tug Bourbon Rhode have told investigators that the vessel was not in fit condition prior to her final voyage, according to her flag state of Luxembourg.
“The originally hired first officer left the shipyard due to the poor condition of the ship. His replacement also complained about the overall condition of the ship," Luxembourg's ministry of transport said in an interim report on the casualty. "All three survivors said they were surprised by the poor condition. One survivor stated that a senior member of the engine crew was concerned that the technical condition of the ship would not allow it to cross the Atlantic."
