El mayor buque-hospital del mundo acude en socorro de Madagascar

El navío Esperanza de África, el mayor buque-hospital del mundo, recalará durante ocho meses en Madagascar para atender la precaria situación humanitaria que sufre este país, donde espera superar las 2.500 intervenciones quirúrgicas gratuitas.
El buque se encuentra haciendo escala en Ciudad del Cabo, donde recluta nuevos voluntarios -entre ellos un español de origen mexicano- para completar una tripulación de multitud de nacionalidades.

El Plan se incluye en el Sistema Nacional de respuesta ante la contaminación marina, que comprende dos ámbitos de actuación: marítimo y costero.
El Boletín Oficial del Estado (BOE) con fecha del 4 de octubre publicó la resolución del Ministerio de Fomento -fechada el 22 de septiembre- por la que se aprueba el Plan Marítimo Nacional de respuesta ante la contaminación de aguas marítimas. Este plan se integra en el Sistema Nacional de Respuesta ante la contaminación marina, aprobado por Real Decreto 1695/2012, del 21 de diciembre.
El Plan Marítimo Nacional se activará cuando el suceso de contaminación afecte a las aguas marítimas y los planes interiores, en relación con los puertos, terminales de manipulación de mercancías, plataformas marítimas de explotación de recursos o cualquier instalación marítima situada en aguas

Social Agenda for Maritime Transport
The Commission intends to present in 2011 a Social Agenda for Maritime Transport in line with the Communication from the Commission Europe 2020 on a European strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth and following up on the Communication from the Commission on Strategic goals and recommendations for the EU's maritime transport policy until 2018. The aim of this initiative is to:
- create/safeguard an adequate maritime labour force for the European shipping and maritime clusters;
- create/foster employment of European seafarers;
- safeguard the European maritime know-how;
- promote maritime safety and security and the protection of the environment.
This initiative will include a Communication and legislative proposals regarding the enforcement of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Maritime Labour Convention, 2006
