Incoming cadets undergo rigorous training during "Swab Summer" (USCGA)

The Class of 2026 arrived at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Day One, June 27, with the largest group of women in an incoming class in academy history. This year, 43 percent of the incoming students are women.
Day One is a whirlwind of administration in-processing and military indoctrination, and its highlight is the ceremony in which the Swabs (as the new students are called) take their oath of service, officially marking the start of Swab Summer.
More than 1,890 young women and men submitted applications to attend the academy, and 293 U.S. students were appointed and sworn into the class. The academy continues to make

El capitán del buque de transporte de contendores “Algeciras Express” IMO 9227015 ha desaparecido en aguas internacionales cuando navegaba entre el puerto turco de Yalova y el puerto español de Algeciras.

La desaparición se registró el pasado día 3 de julio.
El buque “Algeciras Express, que está abanderado en Liberia, pertenece la naviera alemana Hapag Lloyds.
El capitán desaparecido es de origen filipino.
A su llegada al puerto de Algeciras, la Capitanía Marítima dio la orden de fondear el barco a la espera de que llegase un nuevo capitán enviado por la naviera. ¿?
Como está previsto en la legislación marítima, desde la desaparición del capitán titular al mando del “Algeciras Express” hasta la llegada al puerto de Algeciras, el buque navegó bajo el mando del primer oficial, que en estos casos es el siguiente en rango a bordo.
Actualmente el barco está atracado en la terminal de TTI en el puerto de Algeciras.
La Guardia Civil se hará cargo de la investigación del suceso.
Es de suponer que la naviera Hapag Lloyd fue puntualmente informada de la misteriosa desaparición del comandante del barco.
