España ignora la celebracion del día del Marino Civil

Esta asociación, española y de la Marina Civil, no ha tenido conocimiento de que en España se haya celebrado ningún acto  oficial con motivo del  Día del MARINO, que algunos, aunque no lo celebren,  se han encargado de convertir gratuitamente en día de las Gentes de Mar, una expresión que no tienen reconocimiento en el diccionario de la Real Academia Española de la Lengua.

                                                                                           

Declarado en 2010 por la Organización Marítima Internacional como homenaje al marino civil, se celebra todos los años el día 25 de junio. Es un homenaje a todos aquellos/as que navegan por los mares del mundo, haciendo de su arriesgada profesión un gran servicio a la sociedad, mediante la pesca, el transporte, las investigaciones científicas y oceánicas, el turismo náutico etc.

German shipowners thank seafarers for 'indispensable' contribution to Germany

The German Shipowner's Association (VDR) has thanked seafarers worldwide for their "invisible dedication and commitment" on the IMO's Day of the Seafarer.

“Be it commodities, foodstuffs or consumer goods – the transportation of merchandise by seaways is indispensible for prosperity in Germany and everywhere across the globe: We wish to thank the 1.5m seafarers who, invisible to most of us, safely carry goods and passengers over the seas every day. In doing so, they are often separated from their families for months, exposed to hazards like heavy storms or being threatened by pirates,” said Ralf Nagel, ceo of the VDR.

Nagel stressed the importance of ships as a place for living, working and socialising for seafarers, and stated

The corporate world of the shipping industry and social media have not made very comfortable bedfellows, with the exception of a few companies like Maersk Line.

All too often social media it seems is viewed with at best suspicion, and more alarmingly in some cases even fear. It is to some extent understandable that owners and managers do not really want pictures of casualties or videos of their crew doing Gangnam style in the engine room (as I saw the other day) going viral. But in the modern interconnected world there is not much they can actually do about it either.
