Esta es la "Nueva España" y una nueva fase en la diplomacia hispano-estadounidense.  Mientras que mucha gente todavía se iba reincorporando al trabajo después de sus vacaciones veraniegas, altos mandatarios de nuestros dos países inauguraron el otoño con una agenda llena de encuentros bilaterales. Honrados por la presencia de los Reyes, nos reunimos en Málaga para celebrar el 19º Foro del Consejo España-Estados Unidos/U.S.-Spain Council. Empresarios, líderes de la educación y la cultura, altos funcionarios gubernamentales y representantes de la sociedad civil se reunieron para hablar de asuntos mundiales tales como energía, comercio y seguridad, para abordar cómo Estados Unidos y España pueden colaborar como aliados y amigos para responder a oportunidades

The Yomiuri ShimbunThe U.N. International Maritime Organization will create the first-ever mandatory safety and environmental regulations for the Northern Sea Route by revising relevant conventions, The Yomiuri Shimbun has learned.

The London-based organization decided to formulate international rules for maritime traffic because the number of ships using the route has surged, as global warming has been causing ice in the Arctic Ocean to melt. The new regulations are expected to take effect in 2016.

Currently, no international laws have been established for the Arctic Ocean like those in the Antarctic Treaty, which dictates that nations not make territorial sovereignty or other claims. There have also been concerns that coastal nations such as Russia may implement their

Poco tendrá que hacer el nuevo responsable de los asuntos marítimos europeos para superar la nefasta gestion del equipo saliente, al frente del cual se encontraba , José Manuel Durao Barroso, cuyo mandato no pudo resultar más deplorable para los intereses de la Marina Civil en su conjunto.

Just two days after being appointed by Jean-Claude Junker, the EU’s new climate and energy commissioner is under pressure to drop his shares in two oil companies which members of European parliament say represent a conflict of interest.

The MEPs say EU’s proposed new climate and energy commissioner, Miguel Arias Cañete, must dispose of any oil company shareholdings before they consider giving his nomination a green light
