The U.S. Merchant Marine played a vital role in the Allied victory of World War II. They moved great quantities of war matériel from their principle source of supply across as many as 6,000 miles of ocean to the battlefronts of the Far East. They held to high standards and contributed countless accomplishments in every war throughout history, participating in landing operations in cooperation with the U.S. Marine Corps, from Guadalcanal to Iwo Jima. President Franklin D. Roosevelt realized that winning the war would require many ships to carry much-needed supplies to the war front. The tall-masted ships will be back on Lake Superior next year with an extended stop in Two Harbors.

The 2022 edition of Festival of Sail Lake Superior from Aug. 4-7 will boast at least a dozen ships – including an impressive new visitor from Seville, Spain – along with a number of special V.I.P. additions with limited tickets and additional on-board activities. It’s the sixth installment of the popular festival and part of the Tall Ships Challenge Race series.

El Gobierno impulsa la protección y la promoción de los buques y embarcaciones históricas

  • Tras la aprobación en Consejo de Ministros del Real Decreto por el que se aprueba el reglamento de buques y embarcaciones históricas y sus reproducciones singulares.
  • La nueva normativa simplifica la documentación administrativa requerida a este tipo de embarcaciones, y abre la posibilidad de que gocen de diversas ayudas, lo que favorecerá la protección y promoción de este patrimonio cultural de España.

El Consejo de Ministros ha aprobado hoy, a iniciativa del Ministerio de Transportes, Movilidad y Agenda Urbana (Mitma), el Real Decreto por el que se aprueba el reglamento de buques y embarcaciones históricas y sus reproducciones singulares.

La finalidad del Real Decreto es proporcionar el necesario apoyo
