CETO Wave Energy Ireland (CWEI), una filial de Carnegie Clean Energy, ha firmado un acuerdo de cesión que garantiza su acceso a un acuerdo de reserva de atraque dentro de la Biscay Marine Energy Platform (BiMEP).

Se dice que este desarrollo marca un paso importante en el viaje de CWEI hacia el despliegue de CETO en 2025. CWEI ha asegurado un lugar para el despliegue de CETO bajo el Programa ACHIEVE, facilitado por una licitación en la tercera y última fase del Programa PCP EuropeWave. 

El acuerdo de cesión, firmado por todas las partes involucradas, transfiere los derechos de reserva de atraque, originalmente garantizados por Wave Energy Scotland para EuropeWave Buyers

U.S.-based shipping company Crowley named its four new LNG-powered containerships that are presently under construction for its Central America service. The company provided the first details of the ships which will both increase capacity and provide more sustainable operations. 

The order for the vessels was announced in September 2022 in a deal that involves a long-term charter from Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping. The four vessels were ordered from South Korea’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard slated for delivery in 2025. They will place Crowley among the elite group of carriers operating LNG-fueled ships. Mitsui E&S used a MAN B&W 2-stroke gas injection engine to achieve the first demonstration of hydrogen combustion (Mitsui E&S)

Japan’s Mitsui E&S is reporting that it successfully achieved hydrogen combustion of a large marine two-stroke engine making a key milestone in the development of hydrogen as an alternative fuel. Previously the tests have focused on hydrogen derivates such as ammonia, with the company which worked in conjunction with MAN Energy Solutions reporting that this provides critical information toward moving directly to hydrogen as a fuel.

POR ASOCIACIÓN DE COMBUSTIBLES RENOVABLES

El 28 de marzo, la Asociación de Combustibles Renovables presentó una petición para intervenir en apoyo de una impugnación legal presentada por productores europeos de etanol contra el Reglamento Marítimo FuelEU de la Unión Europea. Al asumir arbitrariamente que los biocombustibles basados en cultivos, como el etanol, tienen las mismas emisiones de carbono durante su ciclo de vida que los combustibles marinos fósiles más sucios, la regulación de la UE prohíbe efectivamente el uso de combustibles marinos renovables basados en cultivos como herramienta para descarbonizar el sector marítimo.

La solicitud de RFA para intervenir en el procedimiento respalda la  impugnación  presentada por ePURE, una asociación comercial que representa a los productores europeos de etanol,

 Norway looks to be at the forefront in the development of new maritime technologies both to advance decarbonization and to increase the operating safety and efficiency of vessels. Designs have been completed and an order was placed for four fully battery-powered RoRo ferries that will also be capable of fully autonomous operations as part of a program sponsored by the Norwegian Public Road Administration.
