Following his first article in the Arctic Circle Journal on Russia's New Arctic Strategy, Ambassador Anton Vasiliev now describes Russia's strategy on the Northern Sea Route.

In his article Ambassador Vasiliev starts with saying how surprised he was to learn that during his service time in Iceland (six and a half years) annual cargo shipments on the Northern Sea Route had increased 8 times or up to 33 millions tons, by far surpassing historic USSR 1987 record of 6 million tons.

The long-running battle for control of tanker operator Euronav is taking a new twist with the company confirming widespread rumors over the potential agreement which includes the sale of vessels. Unable to take control of the company, the Fredriksen-led Frontline is in advanced discussions with Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB) to buy half of Euronav’s fleet in exchange for its shares in the company.

El analista de la industria marítima Lars Jensen en un artículo para ShippingWatch destaca las diferentes estrategias que adoptaron las líneas navieras durante su paso por la montaña rusa del período 2020-2023, que dejó a algunos operadores más expuestos a las tarifas al spot (corto plazo) mientras que otros optaron por aumentar su exposición a los contratos a largo plazo.

China ha superado a Grecia como la flota comercial más grande del mundo en términos de tonelaje bruto en capacidad de transporte.

Grecia ostenta el título con su impresionante tonelaje enviado desde 2014 , y si bien todavía ocupa el primer lugar en términos de tonelaje de peso muerto enviado, midiendo el peso total que un barco puede transportar, la flota de China está creciendo.

South Korea’s flagship carrier HMM has signed a new shipbuilding order with China State Shipbuilding Corporation’s subsidiary Huangpu Wenchong for four 38,000-ton multi-purpose heavy-lift ships.

Designed by the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI), the vessels will be equipped with advanced features, including three cargo holds, a combination of hydraulic folding hatch covers and hoisting hatch covers, as well as an array of cranes including 2 sets of 400-ton and 1 set of 200-ton cranes.
