UPyD cree que el contrato marítimo será un paso atrás para los melillenses

Unión, Progreso y Democracia (UPyD) ha pedido hoy un cambio de modelo del transporte marítimo respecto al que ha diseñado el Gobierno de Rajoy en el pliego de condiciones del nuevo contrato que garantiza el funcionamiento de las líneas de Melilla con Almería y Málaga, que considera "un paso atrás" para los ciudadanos.

A preguntas de los periodistas, el coordinador territorial de UPyD en Melilla, Emilio Guerra, ha considerado "una tomadura de pelo" el nuevo pliego de condiciones que ha sacado a adjudicación la Dirección General de la Marina Mercante, ya que el Gobierno popular "lo vendió como la panacea

New measures have been adopted to protect abandoned seafarers, and to provide financial security for compensation in cases of death and long-term disability.

“The adoption of the Maritime Labour Convention in 2006 was an historical milestone that heralded a new era in the maritime sector,” said ILO Director-General Guy Ryder. “This latest step, building on international tripartite cooperation, is a very significant and inspiring example for other economic sectors.”

The amendments, which were developed over nearly a decade by a Joint Working Group established by the ILO and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 1998, will now be sent to the ILO’s International Labour Conference in May

The United States effectively treats foreign seafarers more harshly than any other group that enters the country without breaking the law.

India’s maritime regulator, the director general of shipping, is pushing for a plan that allows local shipping companies to register their ships in tax-friendly overseas jurisdictions without opening subsidiaries, in a bid to increase the national shipping capacity.
   The proposal will allow local shipping companies to directly register their ships overseas sitting in India without opening subsidiaries abroad to create a new fleet category known as Indian-controlled, foreign-registered ships.
