PANAMA PRESENTS CANDIDATURE FOR IMO SECRETARY GENERAL


  The Republic of Panama through the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) has presented the candidature of Arsenio Dominguez for Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).   Panama joined the IMO on December 31, 1958, and became a member of the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 1979. With the entry into force in 2002 of the 1993 amendments to the Constitutive Agreement of the Organization, Panama has been re- elected member of category A of the Council ever since.   With more than 105 years, the Panama Ship Registry is backed by the State – thus guaranteeing the safety of its fleet, offering official assistance to clients in terms of diplomatic and judicial support. which greatly differentiates it from other registries.

La Distinción de la OMI al valor excepcional en el mar de 2022 ha sido concedido al Sr. Bo Xu, primer oficial de China que saltó desinteresadamente desde su petrolero a un mar helado frente al norte de China para salvar a dos personas que se aferraban a una balsa salvavidas de un buque de carga que se estaba hundiendo.

Energy Observer 2: a new zero-emission ship to meet the objectives of the International Maritime Organization

 

Since its creation, Energy Observer pushes the limits of maritime decarbonation. After having developed an autonomous laboratory vessel with the first complete hydrogen chain, capable of producing its own hydrogen with its surplus of renewable energies, Energy Observer is taking a new step by launching the design of the most representative ship of the maritime transport industry: a multipurpose cargo ship fuelled by liquid hydrogen, a technology that allows zero-emission navigation, while offering very high transport capacities and great autonomy.

Belgian Port of Antwerp using EMSA RPAS for pollution monitoring

    It will enable the authorities to inspect an area of some 120km²

    Port authorities in Antwerp, Belgium, are making use of EMSA’s Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) to support their day-to-day monitoring of port operations and rapid response to pollution incidents in the port area. The RPAS will enable the authorities to inspect at a distance their complex port environment which extends over an area of some 120km².

    The Belgian authorities requested the service from EMSA following the positive outcome of the SAFIR project led by the SESAR Joint Undertaking for research and development activities in the area of Air Traffic Management. Through this project, the Port of Antwerp was able to test the feasibility of using drones to monitor
