As part of the EU-funded TrAM project, Wärtsilä and partners have delivered a zero-emission fully electric fast ferry that operates on a commuter route in Norway.

This ferry not only serves passengers between Stavanger and Hommersåk without releasing emissions to air or sea, it also demonstrates that fully electric passenger fast ferries are a viable concept with great promise.

The TrAM project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon2020 Research and Innovation programme and facilitated by the Norwegian cluster organisation Maritime Clean Tech, aims to create a zero-emission fast ferry concept through advanced modular production.

It is expected that modular manufacturing methods will reduce production costs by 25% and engineering costs by 70%. The first vessel resulting

CO2 transports ships will each be outfitted with one wind rotor sail (Northern Lights)

Northern Lights, a Norwegian start-up for the transport and storage of CO2, is incorporating auxiliary wind propulsion into the new CO2 transport vessels it has on order in China. A joint venture between Equinor, Shell, and TotalEnergies, Northern Lights is responsible for the transport and storage components of the Longship Project supported by the Norwegian government to decarbonize emissions, including from the industrial area around the country’s capital of Oslo.

Norsepower reports that it has received an order for two of its rotor sail with one to be installed on each of the two vessels being built

Propelled by a growing demand for cleaner energy, battery-powered vessels are moving stealthily forwards.

As much of the planet battles extreme heat and wildfires, there’s growing scrutiny of the climate-changing emissions generated by our modern carbon-dependent transportation systems. This includes the maritime industries, on which so much of our global prosperity and comfort depend. In a bid to decarbonize the industry, ship owners are exploring a range of fossil fuel alternatives, from cleaner-burning fuels to new forms of wind power. Battery-powered propulsion systems are also gaining in popularity.

Just last month the energy storage system supplier Corvus Energy celebrated when Havila Kystruten`s passenger ship, Havila Castor, sailed the scenic Geiranger fjord in northern Norway

-does-lpg-come-from-lpg-production-process/

LPG is manufactured by refining crude oil or raw natural gas, being derived exclusively from fossil fuel sources. It is stripped from the wet natural gas stream during natural gas processing and is a co-product of refining crude oil.
Whilst liquid under pressure when released from pressure at ambient temperature, it is gaseous. It is stored and transported in LPG cylinders as a liquid under moderate pressure.
The gases produced in the LPG production process are mainly propane and butane, with small fractions of other NGL gases.

LPG

Liquefied petroleum gas – LPG – is either propane, butane or a mixture of the two. LPG is flammable hydrocarbon gas used as fuel for gas heaters, hot water,
