Teekay LNG in March signed an LOI for a 50/50 joint venture with a Chinese LNG shipping company, to provide six icebreaking LNG carriers to ship from the Yamal LNG project.

Yamal LNG terminal, located on the Yamal Peninsula in Northern Russia, is a joint-venture company operated jointly by oil and gas companies, Russian Novatek (60 percent), French Total (20 percent) and Chinese state-controlled China National Petroleum Corporation CNPC (20 percent).

Teekay and its Chinese partner are now negotiating contract terms, including the shipbuilding

contracts and related time-charters, which it expects to finalise before the end of the year.

          A group led by Finland's Containerships has ordered up to four new dual-fuel boxships for European short-sea trades.       

          The new design       

The company said it has teamed up with GNS Shipping/Nordic Hamburg and Arkon Shipping on the vessels, which will use LNG, but could also use conventional bunkers.

The order is for two firm ships, plus two options, but the yard has not been disclosed.

Containerships will be chartering the units over the long term, while the owner and technical manager will be GNS Shipping/Nordic Hamburg.

Arkon will provide commercial management.

The first two will be delivered in 2016.

"Containerships will thus be the first short-sea container operator in Europe to run ships on LNG," it said.

It added the vessels will offer the most efficient and environmentally friendly option for transporting containers by sea, and will exceed environmental standards in the sulphur emission control area (SECA).

Hong Kong container line Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) christened the tenth and last in the current series of its 13,208-teu mega-class newbuildings at Samsung Heavy Industry's yard in Geoje Island this week.

The OOCL Singapore was named by the vessel sponsor Brenda Lo, Asia md of Permal (Hong Kong) Limited, and wife of guest of honour Weber Lo, Citi country officer and ceo of Citi Hong Kong and Macau.

Other distinguished guests and institutional supporters included Hisanaga Tanimura, president and ceo of Financial Products Group who also joined the celebration.

Cosco incluye un puerto brasileño en un servicio que enlaza Algeciras con América

La naviera asiática  Cosco ha anunciado que incluirá un puerto brasileño en un servicio que une  España con Sudamérica y toca el puerto Bahía de Algeciras. Así lo publicó ayer  la publicación especializada Diario del Puerto, que indicó que la dársena que  incluirá en la rotación será el segundo del país, el de Itajaí, situado al sur.
Este servicio, que comenzó en enero, tiene una periodicidad semanal y  enlaza el norte de España (Bilbao y Vigo) con el puerto de Algeciras en buques  feeder. Según la misma publicación, aquí se transborda la carga para exportarla  a Sudamérica, y se importa en el camino de vuelta.
Así, el servicio  pronto unirá los puertos ya incluidos
