There continues to be a lot of attention on the struggles in the airline sector as the major carriers confront crew shortages causing them to cancel flights. The cruise industry has also been quietly adjusting operations in part due to a lack of crew and the challenges of restaffing their ships after the nearly two-year pause in operations.

Vaagland Båtbyggeri AS, Vågland handed over the M/S «MULTI QUALITY» service vessel to FSV Group AS in April 2016 as the shipbuilding number 151. These are the “Multi Safety” sister vessels mentioned in Ship’s Revision No. 6/2015.

The vessel is designed by Solstrand Trading in close cooperation with shipping company and shipyard. “MULTI QUALITY” is described as a shipping and service vessel for the aquaculture industry and is built for DNV GL class ✠1A1, Tug, Dynpos (AUT), and the Maritime Directorate’s rules for cargo ships with European shipping area north of 40gr.

KONGSBERG is pleased to announce that Shell has just signed a five-year contract for the installation of its JAWS (Just Add Water System) software on board 45 of the LNG carriers chartered by Shell. These are LNG carriers which already utilize the Kongsberg Maritime K-IMS Information Management System application suite.

The contract signing follows a successful year-long trial, co-conducted by KONGSBERG, Shell and the LNG shipping services provider Gaslog, on board the LNG carrier Methane Julia Louise. The vessel’s shaft energy consumption was recorded for nine months prior to the JAWS installation, as well as throughout the year-long trial with the JAWS software installed, and the trial demonstrated that JAWS could provide a significant fuel saving for the vessel.

A los funcionarios del gobierno se les informó sobre el plan de P&O Ferries para despedir a 800 trabajadores antes de tiempo, pero se les garantizó que «aseguraría que siguieran siendo un jugador clave en el mercado del Reino Unido», según reveló un memorando filtrado.

El memorando, que se cree que fue escrito por un alto funcionario, afirmaba que si la empresa no despidía a los 800 trabajadores, «unos 2.200 empleados probablemente perderían sus empleos» en el futuro.

El convenio formaliza la colocación de marinos mercantes en los diferentes cruceros de esta compañía.

 

La compañía de cruceros noruego-estadounidense, Royal Caribbean Group, reclutará a salvadoreños para que trabajen como marinos mercantes en esta empresa.

Royal Caribbean Group es segundo operador de líneas de cruceros más grande del mundo.

La alianza, suscrita entre la ministra de Relaciones Exteriores, Alexandra Hill, y la vicepresidenta senior de Asuntos Corporativos de Royal Caribbean Group, Donna Hrinak, permitirá que personal del país pueda especializarse en el ámbito marítimo.

Los procesos serán verificados por la compañía y por la Autoridad Marítima Portuaria (AMP), que es la entidad salvadoreña encargada del establecimiento de los requisitos mínimos para la certificación y titulación del talento nacional en esa área.
