Ubicado en el Mar Céltico, un golfo del noreste del Océano Atlántico se llama Golfo de Vizcaya. Se encuentra en la costa norte de España y la costa occidental de Francia y lleva el nombre de la provincia española de Vizcaya.
La profundidad promedio de la bahía es de 1745 metros y la profundidad máxima es de 2790 metros y partes de la plataforma continental se extienden hacia la bahía, lo que da como resultado aguas bastante poco profundas en algunos lugares.

environmentalists in Sri Lanka are up in arms against mining of sand dunes in Puttalam, the coastal town in the country's northwest. At stake are the fragile water table, vegetation, freshwater sources and people's safety from harsh winds, they say.
