Hurricane Fiona passes over Puerto Rico, Sept. 18 (NOAA)
The National Hurricane Center has recently expanded and provided more detail in its Offshore Zone forecast product, in order to provide better service for the Blue Water mariners.
Overview: The Tropical Analysis and Forecast Branch (TAFB) of the National Hurricane Center (NHC) has been issuing plain text marine forecasts for a configuration of 32 offshore zones in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and much of the Atlantic Ocean south of 31N and west of 55W since 2011. At that time, the zones were designed to offer adequate forecast precision while limiting the number of zones as much as possible. Several

Oxford University researchers are playing a key role in the first systematic survey of ocean life in the Maldives, from the surface to 1,000 metres deep. This will enable the Maldivian government to develop conservation and sustainable development policies so that the oceans continue to protect and provide for the Maldivian people.
Taking place between 4 September and 7 October, the Nekton Maldives Mission will deploy two of the most advanced human-occupied submersibles, which make use of robotic and autonomous systems and more than a dozen research technologies. This will make it one of the most technically varied and advanced missions ever undertaken in the Indian Ocean.

The program will make awards of up to US$56 million (~€56.1 million) and is aimed at combating marine debris across all the coastal areas of the US, Freely Associated States, Great Lakes and territories. The funding is aimed at projects with the following priorities:
- The first priority is the focus on large-scale projects that remove large debris like derelict vessels, fishing gear, and more. Successful applicants are expected to be able to deliver throughout all coastal and marine areas in the United States.
- The second priority focuses on how applications will implement proven interception technologies that have a proven track record in intercepting marine debris at shoreline, estuarine, coastal riverine, and urban environments.

The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) has created a gateway to data portals, enabling people to access and download statistical information and filter it by specific SDG (ESCAP, 2019). From here, the Resource Watch, which provides hundreds of datasets on the state of the planet and human well-being, can be accessed (ResourceWatch, 2019).
Filtering the data by the world oceans will render dozens of layers containing relevant hydrographic, oceanographic, biological, shipping and other information that users can combine for their own analysis. This is an example of how
