The Greenpeace ship Esperanza has arrived in the Arctic to stop Norwegian oil firm Statoil from drilling the world's northern-most well.

Esperanza arrived on Thursday, ahead of Statoil's Transocean Spitsbergen rig, which was heading to the site.

The Norwegian authorities had previously removed seven Greenpeace protesters who had boarded the oil rig on 27 May, while another eight protestors left voluntarily.

Greenpeace Arctic campaigner Sune Scheller said: "The Esperanza is a small ship but we are determined to stay on top of this drilling site and stop Statoil from risking Bear Island."

"Arctic oil drilling is risky, it is dangerous, and it must be stopped."

A subsidiary of Vision Technologies Systems (VT Systems)VT Halter Marine has constructed and delivered the ocean-going articulated tug barge (ATB) to Bouchard Transportation.

The 112ft by 35ft by 17ft Denise A. Bouchard tug is equipped with an intercon coupler system and is classified as an A1 towing vessel, dual mode.

VT Halter Marine started the construction in March 2013, and the keel was laid two months later at its Moss Point Marine plant in Escatawpa, Mississippi, US.

Work on the ATB tug commenced in February this year at the same facility.

The Denise A. Bouchard will join Bouchard's existing ATB 80,000 barrel, as part of the company's fleet expansion strategy.

The vessel is the sister ship of the Evening Star, which

Political deadlock is scuttling efforts toward thorough parliamentary investigation into last month’s sinking

There was to be no more “waiting.” The ruling and opposition parties had wanted them to sit still while they slipped out for the upcoming municipal elections, but the family members stopped them in their tracks and dragged them into the floundering talks toward a parliamentary investigation into the

Who is Yoo Byung-eun? More to the point, where is Yoo Byung-eun? South Korea's most wanted man, known locally as the billionaire without a face, is nothing if not elusive. On May 20, South Korean prosecutors set up a 40-strong team to track him down after he had ignored a second summons to present himself at their offices in Incheon, the port city west of Seoul.
The same day, soon-to-be-ex prime minister Chung Hong-won told the National Assembly that "the government should try and confiscate all his fortune" - and for good measure his family's as well. Yoo's two sons and a daughter have ignored summonses, just like daddy.
Strong words, considering that Yoo has yet to be formally charged
