La Comisión de Investigación de Accidentes e Incidentes Marítimos está investigando el último abordaje ocurrido en el Estrecho de Gibraltar, el que causó importantes daños materiales a los buques Le Sheng y Cape Med. Mientras se conocen los resultados de dicha investigación, la comisión ha mostrado su preocupación por el incumplimiento del Reglamento Internacional para Prevenir los Abordajes en la Mar (RIPA), que es la causa más frecuente en los siniestros marítimos.

As the summer arctic shipping season gets underway, a member of a group that formed after the Selendang Ayu ran aground a decade ago, is calling for more rescue tugs, monitoring and risk management measures in the Bering Strait and Unimak Pass.
In letters to the Coast Guard, Rick Steiner with the Shipping Safety Partnership, says the money to address these concerns could come from the 3.5 billion-dollar Oil Spill Liability Trust fund the Coast Guard has.
