The future of the liner shipping industry took another step toward clarity with the Sept. 9 announcement of the formation of the Ocean Three, or O3, Alliance. The grouping will unite three carriers that until now had been unaffiliated with a major east-west alliance: CMA CGM, United Arab Shipping Co. and China Shipping Container Lines.
Most important about the formation of the O3 is that, with the exception of Zim Integrated Shipping Services, all traditional east-west carriers now are entrenched in alliances that cover all three east-west trades. That’s never happened, and, although the day-to-day impact may not be noticeable, it represents the next stage in the war for survival among carriers, and could have wider impact

Recientemente recaló en Barcelona el Navio-Escola U-27 «Brasil», que se encuentra realizando su XXVI VIGM Viagem de Instrução de Guardas-Marinha

El buque escuela Brasil es una fragata de la clase Niteroi modificada y uno de los pocos buques escuela que no son veleros, embarca un total de 184 alumnos (153 pertenecientes al Cuerpo General e Intendencia de la Marinha y 31 del Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais). El propósito principal de este crucero de instrucción es complementar con la experiencia práctica aquellos conocimientos teóricos adquiridos en la Academia Naval.

Carlos Larrañaga, nacido en Ferrol, nuevo director de Ordenación Pesquera
Sustituye a Andrés Hermida, que ocupa el cargo de secretario general de Pesca
CARLOS MARÍA LARRAÑAGA CES.
Nacido el 3 de noviembre de 1958 en Ferrol, es Licenciado de la Marina Civil,Sección Náutica, por la Escuela Superior de la Marina Civil de A Coruña y pertenece a la escala de Técnicos Facultativos Superiores de Organismos Autónomos del Ministerio de Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación. Ejerció como Inspector de Pesca.
Después de desempeñar diversos trabajos como oficial de la marina mercante y como inspector de pesca marítima, fue jefe de servicio de la Organización Común de Mercados en la Subdirección General de Comercialización Pesquera y agregado de agricultura en la Representación Permanente de España en la Unión

La Nueva España
El jueves 25 de septiembre el presidente de la Asociación Española de Marina Civil, y ex director general de Marina Mercante, José Antonio Madiedo, nos acercará a las circunstancias de los accidentes marítimos frente a la costa asturiana. Concretamente a dos muy recientes, y con resultados trágicos: el del buque "Santa Ana", en marzo de 2014, y el del "Mar Nosso", en abril de 2014.
