The IMO will host an inter-agency meeting on the Travelling of Migrants by Sea on 4 March.

The meeting will build on a meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in December 2014 and aims to develop "potential ways forward" such as creating an incident database to assist law enforcement agencies identify, arrest, and prosecute people smugglers. A greater control over coastal zones and ports is also sought.

Participation is expected from the UNHCR, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), members

«L’Isola dei famosi no. Manco a parlarne.

Strong equity performance – more of an issue of money flow than underlying fundamental improvement

Global equity performance has been strong over the last week. It carried over into yesterday’s trade—even though oil prices resumed their longer-term down trend as hopes from an OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) intervention faded.

The theme over the last week continued. Riskier economies outperformed the S&P 500. Some exuberance is being observed in the recent Eurozone stock performance. Markets are starting to chase returns. They’re getting wind of hedge funds starting to play the “bottom fishing” game.

From a longer-term perspective, many of the underlying issues that plagued economies—like the EU (European Union), Brazil, and more specifically Greece—haven’t been solved. Recently, the trajectory towards solving them permeated headlines.

Feb. 24 2015 - Hans Kristian Haram
NCL, the Norwegian feeder and shortsea carrier, has introduced a totally new concept for shortsea shipping. Check video here!

An aging fleet, stricter emission standards and a desire to move transport from roads to sea, generates a need for new solutions for coastal transport.

Recently a new ship concept was launched. Short Sea Pioneer is a revolutionary two-vessel solution that may change the way we transport goods in Europe. If successful, the concept will make eco-friendly coastal transport more competitive with road transport.

- Cargo volumes will increase 30-40% over the next 25 years. If we are not able to shift cargo from road to sea we will have too many truck on our roads and currently sea
