La alcaldesa de Tazacorte, Carmen Acosta, y la concejala de Turismo, Sandra Pérez, han dado este viernes “la bienvenida al primer barco que atraca en la recién inaugurada obra del muelle”.
Critica que la llegada de este barco no se le haya comunicado al Ayuntamiento “como tampoco la Regata Puertos Canarios que unirá el Puerto de Tenerife con el de Tazacorte, enterándonos por la prensa que será el 1 de abril, algo que puede ser considerado como una falta de respeto institucional”.

The global maritime community is probably the most culturally diverse industry there is, yet it lags behind many other industries in the number of women in top-level positions and in the integration of women into jobs at sea.
A recent report indicates that Brazil, Russia, India and China (the BRIC countries) have the highest number of female senior managers in the maritime industry (26 percent). G7 countries follow with 18 percent.
There is a long history of gender stereotypes to overcome. Women had to fight for the right to work and be educated, and it wasn’t until 1870 that education became compulsory for girls in the U.K., for example.

The oceans may be vast, yet they still can grow crowded. Some congested areas have enough ship traffic that the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and other groups maintain traffic separation schemes—the equivalent of highways for ships—to reduce the risk of collisions.
The Operational Land Imager (OLI) on Landsat 8 captured this view of northbound and southbound shipping lanes off the coast of China’s Shandong Peninsula on February 24, 2015. The lanes form one of the main routes from the Yellow Sea into the Bohai Sea and the Chinese ports of Dalian and Tianjin, two of the busiest in the world. Asshown by this map, several lanes of traffic intersect northeast of the Shandong Peninsula.
