The Kiel Canal, or Nord-Ostsee Kanal, runs 53 miles (99 km) NW from Brunsbuttel on the River Elbe, to Kiel on the Baltic coast. It is over 100m wide and 11m deep and has a clearance of 40m.
Docking
A Navigation Handbook giving rules for the canal can be downloaded.
Permission to enter the canal must be requested as follows:-
At Brunsbuttel: "Kiel Kanal 1" on VHF ch. 13
At Kiel-Holtenau: "Kiel Kanal 4" on VHF ch. 12
During transit of the canal, a listening watch should be kept on each of the above channels when approaching the locks, on ch. 02 ("Kiel Kanal 2") between Brunsbuttel and Breiholz, and on ch. 03 from Breiholz to Kiel ("Kiel Kanal 3").

Los dos puntos que, en principio, se habilitarán para estos amarres serán la zona del Veles e Vents, junto a la pérgola y, en la marina sur, al otro lado del canal.
«Será un servicio gratuito por tiempo de tres horas. Y el horario donde se aplicará es de 13 a 12 de la noche», indican desde el Consorcio. No incluye la pernoctación, «porque el objetivo es que pasen unas horas y se puedan quedar a comer o cenar». The looming deadline for large diesel-powered recreational vessels to install emission controls has been delayed five years.
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has delayed the implementation of a U.S. EPA-sponsored rule that would have required diesel-powered recreational vessels over 24m (about 80 feet) to install emission control after treatment, according to a statement by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA).
The EPA rule proposed a 2016 implementation date for all vessels. The five-year delay
