Habilitan nuevas navieras para satisfacer la demanda en el cruce del Estrecho

La Naviera Armas y la compañía Trasmediterránea, que comunican Melilla con la península, han habilitado en los últimos días de agosto salidas extraordinarias para poder atender la gran demanda de plazas por la Operación Paso del Estrecho (OPE).

En una nota de prensa, Trasmediterránea ha informado de que ha habilitado 4.000 plazas extra en la línea entre Melilla y Almería, que la compañía reforzará el superferry Sorolla desde el 26 de agosto hasta el cuatro de septiembre, periodo en el que este buque hará servicios ininterrumpidos sin descanso.

Normalmente, el Sorolla hace seis servicios semanales Melilla-Almería, ya que los lunes mantiene su rotación habitual con Málaga, si bien esta cifra aumentará a nueve en la semana

Genco Shipping (GNK), una firma de capitales griegos especializada en el transporte marítimo de cargas en la modalidad drybulk por medio de 53 naves, se acogió hace pocos meses al capítulo 11 de las leyes de bancarrota en Estados Unidos. Ahora, el juez interviniente, dictó una sentencia que puede ser modelo para otros casos, lo que disparó preocupación en el sector.

TOKYO, July 2 (UPI) --Japanese shipping company NYK  announced Wednesday it signed contracts to build the first ever vessel used to  fuel ships powered by liquefied natural gas.

NYK signed contracts with Hanjin Heavy Industries &  Construction Co. Ltd. in South Korea to build the world's first so-called  bunkering vessel that will be designed to provide LNGto ships fueled by the super-cooled gas.

Bunkering is the ship-to-ship transfer of fuel.

MSC.com Purchased At Sedo Auction For $48K In December Saved In UDRP

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company Holding S.A. of Geneva, Switzerland, just lost its attempt to grab the domain name MSC.com

Its an interesting case because the domain name was acquired by the domain holder Paul Kocher, in a Sedo auction for $48,000 in December 2013   Actually Jeremiah Johnston of Sedo represented the domain holder.

After the auction the trademark holder offered to buy the domain for $50,000 which the domain holder rejected and the UDRP was filed.
